So - I wanted to make myself a necklace. It was supposed to be the sky, from dusk through to dawn. Trouble was, I didn't have a clasp that looked right, except for this leaf, so now it's an autumn thing!
More eyecandy!I love what Kim did with these watercolour beads. And she has a brand new website - www.twisledesigns.com. I just love it when my beads get all grown up!!
Can you believe the colours in this bead?? It arrived in the mail this morning, together with a beautiful bag, printed with pictures of my beads, from my lovely friend, Mary. She is too clever by half, LOL!! Check out her website -www.flamingobeads.co.uk - she's a star!
Oh, I'm a bad blogger!! I've been Missing in Action 'cos I've been working out how to make flowers that look like they've been painted. I'm getting there, but it's addictive - just one more set - or I wonder what they'd look like in this colour - I need therapy!!
I love Chelsea flower show, so I've been glued to the box this week. I did find time to make some flowery beads, however - and this bangle and earrings.
We lampworkers are a lucky bunch. All we have to do is make some beads, and then wait for them to turn into something like this! I love it!! It makes my day to see them take on a life of their own, and become something I could never have imagined.
Another bangle! My daughter's been here for the weekend, and Impressionist left with her. I'm highly honoured - she's very picky about her jewellery. It did look gorgeous on her.
It's official! I'm the world's slowest jewellery maker! First I have to think about making something, then I have to work up the courage to order all the bits ( what if it doesn't work, and I've wasted all that money??) then I have to make a mock-up in cheap materials just to check, then work up the courage to cut and bend the expensive wires ( what if I make a mistake and waste....etc etc) and then I have to think about it a bit more. Then sometimes I actually make something!!
I find it really difficult not to have an even number of things, or a repeating pattern - so this is a bit of a change for me.It's a simple JPL bracelet with little silver nuggets and a silvered glass focal.
Every now and then, I think about all the beads I've made, and what they grew up to be! I loved these beads when I made them, and I really love what Jo did with them. And I kind of miss them now they're gone!
I seem to be having Monet on the brain lately - this little set of beads developed when I was looking for something else! I really like the way they've turned out, and I think the idea will work in other colours too, so plenty to think about and experiment with. Nothing else is happening in cloudy Wales - although there are a million forget-me-nots in the garden, looking Spring-like.
I've made these beads a few times, so last week I decided to make a set for me to play with. I used some bali silver and some Kyanite rondelles with them. Finally got some beads made today, after three days off! I was beginning to have withdrawal symptoms.
Well, a little holiday from making orders!I love making earrings, and these ones were fun. Some lampwork discs with bali silver, that I call Midnight in Moscow because they remind me of onion dome buildings, and a pair of twist cut flourite beads that are really well matched - they were the only two in the strand that were perfectly matched for colour, so they had to be earrings really. Tomorrow I'm going to see Jean Michel Jarre in concert - a blast from my past! Woohoo - old hippy alert!
It's nasty out there! Cold, windy and miserable - not a good day to make beads! And so, in best Blue Peter tradition - here's one I made earlier. I love making chain maille, and this delicate Jens Pind weave makes a perfect chain for some little lampwork beads. Thanks to my friends, George, designedbygeorge and Lynne, The Dragonfly Company for all the good advice - let's just say I'm not the quickest learner!!
It's taken me ages to get these lotus beads down! I'm pleased with them now, though. I've kept it simple with a sterling beadcap and a fairly dramatic pair of earwires, but the beads are the stars!
And what an adventure it has been! I first discovered lampwork beads five years ago, and they have taken over my life, and brought me many new and wonderful friends - you know who you are!! So this blog is to celebrate the beads, and the glass, and the jewellery made from the beads. Here you will find my new frit blends, and the beads made with them. I hope you enjoy it!
